IEEE International Parallel & Distributed Processing Symposium

Technical Committee on
Parallel Processing

Author Resources

The IEEE IPDPS 2007 Proceedings will be a single CD-ROM combining the proceedings of the main symposium and the workshops. The CD-ROM will be "pocketed" in a printed book containing the abstracts of all papers (symposium and the workshops). Please contact the IPDPS 2007 Proceedings Chair, Shoukat Ali, (ipdps@umr.edu) for any questions.

At least one author of each paper should be registered for the symposium in order for the paper to be published in the proceedings. Online registration for IPDPS 2007 is available at www.ipdps.org.

The new IEEE Xplore requirements for PDF will be enforced. All conference articles submitted for inclusion in IEEE Xplore must adhere to the IEEE Xplore PDF specification for compatibility.

IPDPS 2007 has registered for use of a new IEEE tool: IEEE PDF eXpress. IEEE PDF eXpress is a free service to IEEE conferences, allowing their authors to make IEEE Xplore-compatible PDFs (Conversion function) or to check PDFs that authors have made themselves for IEEE Xplore compatibility (PDF Check function). The IEEE PDF eXpress site contains extensive instructions, resources, helpful hints, and access to technical support.

The deadline for submission is January 22, 2007 midnight PST.

The following steps must be taken to properly submit your paper to IPDPS 2007.

1.
Create your manuscript by using one of the author
kits given here.

2.
Proofread and check layout of manuscript. It is highly recommended that you do this BEFORE going to IEEE PDF eXpress.

3.
Create an IEEE PDF eXpress account, if you do not already have one. Access the IEEE PDF eXpress site at http://216.228.1.34/pdfexpress/log.asp. The Conference ID is ipdps07. This web site is available now.

First-time users:
i.
Click "New Users - Click Here."
ii.
Enter ipdps07 for the Conference ID, your email address, and choose a password. Continue to enter information as prompted.
iii.
You will receive online and email confirmations of successful account setup.
Previous users, but using it the first time for a new conference:
i.
Enter ipdps07 for the Conference ID, your email address, and enter the password you used for your old account.
ii.
When you click "Login," you’ll receive an error saying you need to set up an account. Simply click "Continue." By entering your previously used email address and password combination, you will enable your old account for access to this new conference.
iii.
Check that the contact information is still valid, and click "Submit."
iv.
You will receive online and email confirmations of successful account setup.
Returning users:
i.
Enter ipdps07 for the Conference ID, email address and password.

4.
Use IEEE PDF eXpress to obtain IEEE Xplore-compatible PDF. This is done either by uploading an existing PDF file for Checking or by uploading one or more source files for Conversion at IEEE PDF eXpress web page.

A. For each conference paper, click "Create New Title".

B. Enter identifying text for the paper (title is recommended but not required).

C.
Click "Submit PDF for Checking" or "Submit Source Files for Conversion."

D.
Indicate platform, source file type (if applicable), click Browse and navigate to file, and click "Upload File." You will receive online and email confirmations of successful upload.

E. You will receive an email with your Checked PDF or IEEE PDF eXpress-converted PDF attached. If you submitted a PDF for Checking, the email will show if your file passed or failed. If the PDF you submitted fails the PDF check or if you are not satisfied with the PDF file IEEE PDF eXpress created from your source files, you have three options given below.

If the PDF submitted fails the PDF check ...
i.
Submit your source file for conversion by clicking Try again, then Submit Source Files for Conversion
ii.
Read the PDF Check report, then click "The PDF Check Report" in the sidebar to get information on possible solutions
iii.
"Request Technical Help" through your account
If you are not satisfied with the IEEE PDF eXpress-converted PDF ...
i.
Resubmit your source file with corrections (Try again, then Submit Source Files for Conversion)
ii.
Submit a PDF by clicking Try again, then Submit PDF for checking
iii.
"Request a Manual Conversion" through your account

5.
Submit the final, IEEE Xplore-compatible PDF for the full paper at the camera-ready submission site.

6.
Submit a text version of your manuscript's abstract at the text abstract submission site.
