IEEE International Parallel & Distributed Processing Symposium

Parallel Processing

Author Resources

The IEEE IPDPS 2006 Proceedings will be a single CD-ROM combining the proceedings of the main symposium and the workshops. The CD-ROM will be "pocketed" in a printed book containing the abstracts of all papers (symposium and the workshops). Please contact the IPDPS 2006 Proceedings Chair, Shoukat Ali, (ipdps@umr.edu) for any questions.

At least one author of each paper should be registered for the symposium in order for the paper to be published in the proceedings. Online registration for IPDPS 2006 will be available after January 10th.

The new IEEE Xplore requirements for PDF will be enforced as of 2005. All conference articles submitted for inclusion in IEEE Xplore must adhere to the IEEE Xplore PDF specification for compatibility.

IPDPS 2006 has registered for use of a new IEEE tool: IEEE PDF eXpress. IEEE PDF eXpress is a free service to IEEE conferences, allowing their authors to make IEEE Xplore-compatible PDFs (Conversion function) or to check PDFs that authors have made themselves for IEEE Xplore compatibility (PDF Check function). The IEEE PDF eXpress site contains extensive instructions, resources, helpful hints, and access to technical support.

The following steps must be taken to properly submit your paper to IPDPS 2006.

1.
Create your manuscript by using one of the author kits given here.

2.
Proofread and check layout of manuscript. It is highly recommended that you do this BEFORE going to IEEE PDF eXpress.

3.
Create an IEEE PDF eXpress account, if you do not already have one. Access the IEEE PDF eXpress site at http://216.228.1.34/pdfexpress/log.asp. The Conference ID is ipdps06. This web site is available now.

First-time users:
i.
Click "New Users - Click Here."
ii.
Enter ipdps06 for the Conference ID, your email address, and choose a password. Continue to enter information as prompted.
iii.
You will receive online and email confirmations of successful account setup.
Previous users, but using it the first time for a new conference:
i.
Enter ipdps06 for the Conference ID, your email address, and enter the password you used for your old account.
ii.
When you click "Login," you’ll receive an error saying you need to set up an account. Simply click "Continue." By entering your previously used email address and password combination, you will enable your old account for access to this new conference.
iii.
Check that the contact information is still valid, and click "Submit."
iv.
You will receive online and email confirmations of successful account setup.
Returning users:
i.
Enter ipdps06 for the Conference ID, email address and password.

4.
Use IEEE PDF eXpress to obtain IEEE Xplore-compatible PDF. This is done either by uploading an existing PDF file for Checking or by uploading one or more source files for Conversion at IEEE PDF eXpress web page.

A. For each conference paper, click "Create New Title".

B. Enter identifying text for the paper (title is recommended but not required).

C.
Click "Submit PDF for Checking" or "Submit Source Files for Conversion."

D.
Indicate platform, source file type (if applicable), click Browse and navigate to file, and click "Upload File." You will receive online and email confirmations of successful upload.

E. You will receive an email with your Checked PDF or IEEE PDF eXpress-converted PDF attached. If you submitted a PDF for Checking, the email will show if your file passed or failed. If the PDF you submitted fails the PDF check or if you are not satisfied with the PDF file IEEE PDF eXpress created from your source files, you have three options given below.

If the PDF submitted fails the PDF check ...
i.
Submit your source file for conversion by clicking Try again, then Submit Source Files for Conversion.
ii.
Read the PDF Check report, then click "The PDF Check Report" in the sidebar to get information on possible solutions.
iii.
"Request Technical Help" through your account.
If you are not satisfied with the IEEE PDF eXpress-converted PDF ...
i.
Resubmit your source file with corrections (Try again, then Submit Source Files for Conversion).
ii.
Create a PDF yourself and then submit it by clicking Try again.
iii.
"Request a Manual Conversion" through your account.

5.
Submit final, IEEE Xplore-compatible PDFs (one for the full paper and one for just the abstract) at the camera-ready submission site. Then submit and a text version of your manuscript's abstract at the text abstract submission site.

The revised deadline for submission is February 1, 2006 midnight PST.

IPDPS 2006 was a fantastic success & we look forward to seeing you in 2007. The 2007 Call for Papers will be posted shortly.

In the mean time, please download the slides presented by the TCPP Reception Speaker, Randy Moulic from the IBM T.J. Watson Research Center.
